Books Made Into Movies: The Color Purple By Alice Walker....

The The Color Purple By Alice Walker is the Pulitzer Prize wining  novel about a poor, uneducated African American woman living in the South. With all her hardships she finds her own inner strength and by the end of the novel turns her life around and reunites with her younger sister and 2 children.

Made into a movie in 1985 The Color Purple was directed by Steven Spielberg and had a star studded cast including Whoopi Goldberg, Oprah Winfrey, Danny Glover and Rae Dawn Chong.

The first time I saw the movie was when it premiered in 1985, I was a little kid then and didn't understand much of what was going on, but I loved the acting, the humor and the songs featured in the movie. It wasn't until I was older that I understood Celie's hardships and cheered on her triumphs.

The movie was and will always be one of my all time favorites, but like most movies turned into books, the book was 1000 times better then the actual movie.

I give Steven Spielberg credit, because he did a fabulous job directing The Color Purple, but the book told more of the story, it put you even deeper inside Celie's world.

I give this movie 5 out of 5 stars. The Color Purple should of won every Oscar the year it came out, but we all know that they were robbed by Hollywood and its racism!

The Color Purple is another must see movie, and a incredible book!
