I Am the Cheese By Robert Cormier Is A young adult novel about a teenager who suffers from depression, what he thinks is his reality is actual just memories of his past life.
I am the cheese actually reminds me of Catcher in the Rye By J. D.Salinger in a lot of ways, but the ending in my opinion is pretty shocking.
A few years ago I came across the movie version of I am the cheese, it was made sometime in the 80's and stars Robert MacNaughton (The kid from E.T, who played Elliot's older brother ).
If you have time to kill I would highly recommend watching this movie, or better yet reading the book.
