For as long as I can remember The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton has always been both my favorite book of all time and my favorite movie.
A coming of age story about a gang of teenagers called the greasers and their lives in a small town in Oklahoma. The greasers are the kids from the poor side of town who are constantly bullied by the rich kids who are called the Socs.
Ponyboy Curtis the protagonist of the story narrates the whole book, we see the world through his eyes.
A movie version directed in 1983 by Francis Ford Coppola starred some of the most famous actors of that time including Tom Cruise, Ralph Macchio, C. Thomas Howell, Matt Dillion, Patrick Swayze, and Emilio Estevez.
A few years ago my husband and I discovered a remastered director's cut of the movie called OUTSIDERS:COMPLETE NOVEL In this new version its like a retelling of the story! The new version is much more similar to the actual novel, its like a whole new movie.
I was amazed by all the added scenes that included a new beginning and ending.
I give both versions of the movie 5 out of 5 stars.
But the new director's cut is my absolute favorite!
