Since Shawn and I have been married the most snow we have ever encountered together was maybe a inch or two that lasted maybe a few days then quickly melted away under the hot Arkansas sun.
Shawn has never seen a blizzard, he doesn't know about huge snow banks, he's never had to shoveling for hours only to get twice as much snow dumped on top in a matter of minutes, he has never had to buy big bags of rock salt hoping it would last the winter only to run out in a matter of weeks.
I grew up in Syracuse New York, I have endured many blizzards, and the snow there seems to last forever.
Its not like how it is here in Arkansas, we had maybe a day of snow either before or after Christmas, and haven't had any snow since (Thank God)
Today's high is 68, where back home in Syracuse they have snow and maybe a high of 30.
Winter is no joke on the East Coast. But you just get used to it after awhile. You know how to prepare for any winter storm warning, and you make sure that you have your snow blower ready.
In Arkansas you hear light flurries and everybody panics lol. People here have never been in a real snow storm. A measly inch or two is nothing.
My cousin who lives in Georgia and I had this funny conversation on Facebook, we talked about how different the weather was in South compared to New York. We grew up walking in snow so deep it went past our knees, and now as adults we hardly ever see snow. Maybe a light dust here and there, but not like it was when we lived up North.
I don't missed the terrible winters one bit. But I do love the first snow.
I love seeing our dogs play in snow. So glad we get to enjoy it once a year, even if only for a short time.
Stay warm Syracuse, y'all got a few more months go, but it wouldn't be Syracuse without the bad weather.
